Aesthetic Perfection

Another EBM band has been permanently added to my playlist: Aesthetic Perfection. First heard of them about a year ago and I have listened a lot their music ever since. Well, when I say them,  I mean him... since the band is a one man creation.

By two favourites by far are, the softer track called DAF

and the very nice harder track called Living the Wasted Life

Love coding while listening to this band :) Works better than coffee.

Progressive female artists

I love weird music, as long as it is brilliant. It just scratches that very weird itch.
Strangely most of the really weird music I listen too happens to have female lead singers.

All the bands are weird in their own way, and weird being a good thing. The music and lyrics will make you wake up and draw you in. Something new, something fresh.

An interesting band list:

I guess my mothers feminist attitude has rubbed off on me... I apparently like strong willed women, and the progressive nature and provocative attitude of these ladies is just epic... Nah! That's not it... I'm just weird as fuck! :P (oh yea, and to hell with censorship)

Deep bass for those late night hackings

So I have been working way too much lately. When coffee and sugar no longer works, there is only one option left: Loud music. Either brutal death metal or electronic music with so much bass that it keeps the heart pumping no matter what. I have lately listened quite a bit to Bassnectar. Great band. Check our their track "Underwater", it is awesome. Still got some chill-out in it, but still so much bass that there is no chance of falling asleep when the volume is up on high!

Am I the only one that use music like a drug? Well, at least, music is one drug that I know has no negative side effects! :)

Siouxsie The Passenger

I love Siouxsie & the Banshees, and I love Iggy's The Passenger... and I must admit, I love Siouxsie's version even more than Iggy's.

Sometimes I really do think I was born about 20 years too late. Oh well, thanks to digital technology the great tunes of old shall never perish!

Android 4.3 on my HTC One

The wonderful folks at TrickDroid has for while now supplied a Google Android 4.3 stock ROM for the HTC One. Unfortunately the initial 1.0.0 version had a bug where the keyboard kept crashing (at least on the GSM/European version of the HTC One). Now 2.0.0 is out and it works perfectly! It is available here.

I prefer clean stock ROMs. Without a lot of hacks or added features. Google has some bright ideas, and I prefer Android the way they make it. However, TrickDroid does also have a 4.3 based version of their own ROM, that is called version 10.0.0 and can be found here.

Regarding the HTC One: It is still the best phone I have ever owned. The hardware is brilliant, the design gorgeous and now with a clean Android 4.3 ROM the software is also as good as it gets.

A simple Google+ widget for your blog

I wanted a simple widget on my blog showing the Google+ posts I make. I found a rather good one:

I am however slowly considering just using my Google+ page as my blog.

Anyone who knows me just a little also knows that I love electronic music, especially Infected Mushroom. Now, add Skazi to the list. Check this track out!

<3 VNV Nation <3

About three months ago I discovered the band VNV Nation. I knew and liked a few of their tracks already but had never given them a proper listen. I have now... for about three months! They are amazing! If you like electronic music with an old school sound then you will love this to death. Here are a couple of my favourite tracks:

Pulsars and Joy Division

I just read a fun little article about the origin of the image on Joy Divisions cover for the album Unknown Pleasures. Apparently its the pulses from the first discovered pulsar. How neat!

Go read the article, it is quite fun to see how the auther tried to track down the image and figure out whether or not it was copyrighted (because it all started out with him wanting to use it for something else).

You can read the article here:

Bye bye zsh

So I finally did it. I abandoned zsh and now use bash. Why? Because bash is everywhere and I always end up writing bash scripts anyway. How can I live without zsh? Well, it turns out that bash has a quite excellent VI-mode. I would actually say it is superior to that of zsh. Sure, there are differences I adapted quickly, and the VI-mode feels a lot more responsive than that of zsh.

So bye bye zsh and thank you for many good years of service. I will not forget you and might come back some day, but I doubt it. I am getting old and lazy. My days of custom Linux installations are behind me. I need something proper, out-of-the-box, that "just works"... Today I spend my time on writing software and developing businesses. We all got to move on after all... bye zsh!

Now, would I ever abandon VIm? Of course not! I mean, unless a new superior editor with the same interaction scheme was invented. Someone should create that, by the way!

New domain

I have been tired of the domain name "twilightzone.dk" for a long time, and that is mostly due to a certain series of really bad Hollywood movies about teenage vampires... luckily the domain name "rng.dk" was available. RNG is often the acronym used when referring to a Random Number Generator, and well, this blog is not such a thing; however, this is where I channel all the stuff I feel like sharing with the world, so Random Noise Generator seems like a suitable name, that suits that acronym ever so nicely! :) So the blog name is more or less the same, the domain name is different.

I still own twilightzone.dk until it expires. Then it will be up for grabs... hmmm... maybe I should keep it and try to get some money out of some Twilight fans for it... naaah, that would involve having to speak with them :P

I basically went: Yup, Kris Kuksi, you nailed it! :)

Feedly, my choice after Google Reader

So Google Reader is going to be shut down but luckily Feedly (http://www.feedly.com/) exists. I actually find it superior to Google Reader in every way. Wonderful!

I did experiment with using Google+ instead of a news reader (since most sites have G+ sites as well) but I need to be able so see what I have and haven't read so far, as sometimes I wont have time to read all my feeds for a week or two, but I always come back and follow up on things. I really like Google+ but for news or even vidcasts I prefer to know that I didn't miss out on anything.

Shout out to +Arild Haugstad for showing me Feedly :)

Pink Military

A good friend shared a YouTube video/song with the band Pink Military. I have been listening a lot to dark post-punk lately and this band is just amazing! Nice and relaxing to listen to. Great sound.

I got a zombie!

My sister is a brilliant artist, so I asked her to make a nice picture for me... of a zombie, of course! What kind of picture, what kind of zombie, didn't matter. I just wanted a zombie that my sister made especially for me, and I got one!

Isn't he beautiful? I think so! I've always loved zombies. Great horror creature.

The framing is just temporary. Simply framed it immediately after I got it to make sure that it wouldn't get damaged. Later I will get it framed in some gorgeous large dark wooden frame or something. Then it will look like a picture of someones granddad! If they had a walking dead for a granddad, that is.

For now it hangs above my guitars and amps. Giving the "music corner" in the living room a little extra flair.

Thank you so much dear sister! You are the best!

If you like the zombie then remember to check out my sister's blog http://frustation-ink.blogspot.dk/. She posts some of her work there.

Hola Unblocker

So yea, all these country restrictions on websites really suck... What's the point of living in a so-called information age when the information is still restricted by silly things like borders.

But hurra for Hola Unblocker! Now you can watch things like BBC iPlayer, from anywhere! Rejoice! It's a Google Chrome extension, and all you have to do is install it and then everything just works! Brilliant! Simplicity is king.

Slow-Carb Reference

I live on a Slow-Carb Diet. Calling it a diet is actually silly since you can easily choose it as you preferred way of living, which I have. When living the Slow-Carb life you often think: "Hmm, is this slow carb?", and here is the answer:

Just type in the kind of food you are interested in, and it gives you a clear "yes" or "no", or something like "yes but in small amounts". Excellent! :)

A nice geeky wallpaper collection

I was looking for some new wallpapers and I came across this nice collection: http://imgur.com/a/x6sRL?gallery#461

Sabrepulse makes awesome chiptunes. The track Phalanx is without a doubt my favourite of the bunch. Have a listen :)
